So I think we only have one deal in Boston going on right now but it’s a damn good one. The Equal Exchange Co-op (www.equalexchange.coop) is a new idea grocery store behind which a trade model of strictly food is encouraged. A loaf of bread for a fish you say? I guess that is the idea. But they are known for their incredible caffeinated fare. Right now Mobile Spinach members get a “Free cup of drip coffee at Equal Exchange Cafes throughout Boston.”
Ok, now that Christmas is over can it get warm again? It’s nice having a white Christmas and all that but I’m ready for some summer. Maybe after NYE? Bring on the global warming. Ok, I take that back. Give me a few months on the slopes of our resorts and some sick spring time boarding in T-shirts would be nice.
I’ll be out at a long dinner for NYE with the best friends but with no Mobile Spinach discount right now…sadness abounds, I know. People! In the New Year please email me with ideas and suggestions of places you like where you would really like to have a discount. I will try my hardest to get those establishments on the Mobile Spinach client list so you can get out there more. Please email me suggestions at mobilespinach@mobilespinach.com and I’ll do my best!
The speakeasy idea is about two to three years ancient history now. Is it really that entertaining to have to call ahead for a password to get into a bar? Why not just keep the establishment out of ear shot of the no-class cretins who ruin the space, usually designed for a soft spoken atmosphere, with demands of “flip-cup” and “Jaeger Bombs”. If you’re looking for that, check out MTV’s Jersey Shore or just go there yourself for spring break.
Boston has done a good job of keeping on speakeasy type drinking hole-in-the-ground a secret; somewhat of a secret as I’m writing a public blog about it. Prohibited (www.symphony8boston.com/prohibited-boston-bar) began pouring booze last week to very little obnoxious fan fair. So if you think you can have a G & T and hold of on the Car Bombs come check it out. Otherwise go someplace that serves wings and cheese balls.
All of my deals have been for salons in Boston and it’s time for me to branch out. First off though I want to reiterate the deals we still have with Davis Salon (www.davishairdressing.com) and Isoci Salon (www.isocisalon.com).
Davis Salon Deal: Davis Hairdressing offers 25% off cuts and blows just for Mobile Spinach members.
Isoci Salon Deal: Isoci salon offers 25% off just for Mobile Spinach members.
Please be well groomed for the holiday family photo.
It’s damn cold here. This must be why our peeps in San Francisco are kicking us when we’re down and asking we write some stuff about ALL the deals they’re getting in Sunny San Francisco. Just wait until the Summer guys, you’ll be dying to get out of that fog.

Boys are always impressed when I order a Guinness instead of a glass of Chardonnay or champagne, the later which gives me a headache. Sue me, I like beer, screw the carbs. It’s difficult to get the girls together for pitchers for beer, Sangria maybe but not in November. So, I’m grabbing a boy-who’s-a-friend and heading to Lord Hobo soon as it just opened (www.lordhobo.com). Go to the website and check out their list of beers “On Draught”. I’ve heard of Racer 5 and that’s it. Good sign for a 10 beer buzz.
Opening on November 20th is the Woodward Tavern (http://www.woodwardatames.com/) and from what I’ve seen it makes sitting by the fire with the family sipping eggnog look down right stiff and boring. Though it still has the feeling of homeliness seemingly sown into the essence of the space its still a night on the town.
Daddy taught me to bowl and we’re doing it up cheap this weekend; like it’s supposed to be done. Come check out Boston Bowl (http://www.bostonbowl.com/) this weekend for it’s 50th anniversary and all sorts of stuff for just fifty cents. Pizza and soda for sure…a grown up Chuck-e-Cheese.
Another cheap eating establishment opened last week. If you haven’t noticed I’m basically making a list of all the places I can eat out now for minimal “spendage”. City Table (http://www.citytableboston.com/) still brings the fine dinning ambience with some less expensive dishes…if you don’t order wine of course.
Striving to be healthy as well as not eat bark and twigs is seemingly an endless adventure in trial and error. I’d love to have a healthy veggie sandwich but it’s damn bland without any oil, mustard or mayo; all condiments that up the calorie and fat factor of my delicioso sando. I just found Tortured Orchard, which makes extremely health conscious but tasty condiments, not water boarding mechanisms out of farm equipment. http://torturedorchard.com/shop
