I’ve been asking my friends and relatives, sometimes one in the same, what exactly they would actually use a Mobile Spinach discount on. So I’m trying Laundry Locker for the first time today after work. I love the after work scene. Part of my motivation to work hard and accomplish my daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals is to earn that first whiskey among my cohorts. I mean I may still have that whiskey if I don’t have a seriously productive day but only with a self made promise of harder work next week. One of my favorite all time parties in San Francisco is the Wednesday Qool party at 111 Minna. I don’t always have the best time in the world there but I think it is the best cross section of the San Francisco social scene around. Art, music and booze are combined in one $5 cover charged, high ceiling-ed manifesto of our little burg. So now part of the Shop SF campaign Mobile Spinach has a dollar off drinks at 111 Minna. I will be leading a Mobile Spinach Team expedition to the Qool party ASAFP.

So last week I was a serious downer. Talking about how “lame” NYE was and that is was “amateur night”. Sorry if I offended you. I’ve been trying to remember all the good times I’ve had on NYE. Of course the only real memories I have are of NYE’s long past that seem to improve as time sails further away from the actual occurrence.

In the 90s as we walked from a motel on Lombard through the Broadway Tunnel we threw Ryan’s shoes into the middle of the tunnel when he had removed them to fish out a pebble. Then, as a drunken sort of Karma, I started to bleed from blisters on my heels and had to ditch the new loafers and walk around in sogged out socks all night. It was a bummer but a surprise I didn’t end up walking into the emergency room on a permanent layer of broken glass. It still ended up in a good way.

Some time after that is when I began placing more emphasis on NYE that it actually deserved.

If you use a swear or a racial slur enough it begins to lose its weight and meaning, at least for the user. If I can do the same for NYE, I’m sure it will be good times.

We have a new sales person on staff starting today! We’re all doing our best to welcome Lauren Stracka to the team…be sure to find out more about her on our new webpage. I’m sure her bio promises for good reading….no pressure.

Also, the “demand” I’m putting out is for Blair Brown to return to us. She’s been out of SF for almost a year, according to her and is now residing in Hawaii somewhere surfing and tanning the days away; hopefully working on a novel or something. Her Tastemaker name is Frontier and her bio is exceptionally imaginative so read it! Oh, and if you can, get a hold of her and tell her it’s HOT HOT HOT in San Fran right now and it’s time to return to the land of Mobile Spinach.

I’m going south to Baja next week so let’s get this out of the way. I’ll try and Twitter via Mobile Spinach from Cerritos but don’t count on it. I will hopefully be drunk and surfing naked for a week straight. Not like anyone follows what the hell I’m doing anyhow.

Being in the mountains during the winter months is an experience I try and afford myself every year. Another tradition I try and pull off is shopping with the current “sweetie” on a blustery day. For some reason I see us (myself and “sweetie”) as Kay Adams and Michael Corleone sauntering out of Radio City Music Hall during Christmas time in New York. Of course it’s not snowing and I’m not Sicilian and there are a few other inconsistencies we’ll disregard here for the sake of retail and Christmas. I just like getting asked to leave Gump’s for smooching on decadently decorated Euro-flare couches. I also really dig Sisley by Union Square (www.sisley.com). It’s the men’s counterpart to Miss Sixty. Check it out when you are down in Union Square with your darling.
