Tastemaker: A lot

A lot

Los Angeles Female
I’m easy going, I like long walks on the beach, I like to rent movies and snuggle….scratch that! I’m not from this landmass and I take advantage of my life and surroundings. I like to party, drink myself to bed, dance until my feet are sore and surf...maybe I will see you out there.

For work I do a lot of travel but they give me some extra time so I get to see some sights and try out a lot of hotels, spas and shopping in different cities.

Of course, I party, as it is LA, we invented it. I like to go in style to the trendy spots but also a lot of low key off the strip spots where I can just enjoy my friends.

I do try to get some culture too so I go to some poetry reading…lots of hot guys there in clark kent sort of way...if you are into that-don’t judge me!

I drive everywhere as they will arrest you if you are walking around in LA-nobody walks. Just know when to go!

LA is big with who you know, you need to know people and those people need to know people-it is a boring night if you just walk into a club or bar or restaurant and not be in.

I will take you on a ride!

I'd love to know where you hang out and what you love to do! Email mobilespinach@mobilespinach.com businesses that you like and things you like to do and we will do our best to get you discounts from your favorite places.

Road Trip Glamping

January 6th, 2010, 1:04 p.m.

I will be traveling as much as possible this year. Of course traveling means road tripping and crisscrossing California like a caffeinated spider web leaving a swath of fun times in my wake. Since I’m not a huge camper and really do appreciate a good shower or hot bath with a glass of wine, especially after driving for over three hours, the Mobile Spinach discount of %10 at Joie de Vivre hotels across California will be working for my road trip vagabonds and I. Have discount, will travel:

• Joie de Vivre offers 10% discount in 2009 at any 35 California boutique Joie de Vivre hotels.

Over Underground Review

December 30th, 2009, 1:43 p.m.

A quick year in revue of some great new spaces that opened up this year and will hopefully be on the Mobile Spinach roster come 2010. Enjoy!:

• Wonderland, not the wonderfully uplifting movie staring Val Kilmer as Johnny Wad but a trippy trip of a club complete with Alice and Wonderland playboy bunny abounding

• Mi-6 (www.sbe.com/mi6/) in Santa Monica brought us well into 2010 in 2009.

• My favorite was Voyeur (http://voyeur7969.com/). Go the website…the creepiness of the Eyes Wide Shut piano that accompanies the website is enough to make you want to peek.

Check out any of these places for NYE and you’ll have an exceptional time. You may spend upwards of say $500 on one night but at least you won’t remember it…sadly your ATM will.

Eats & Beats Once Again my Friends

December 15th, 2009, 2:42 p.m.

Eats & Beats at The Hudson (www.thehudsonls.com) is tonight! If you got your rezzies then good for you…if not, to bad, this event is fantastic and getting in on it early is the only way to enjoy. Check it out on Facebook and invite yourself to the next one.

The Gold Standard…Jesus that’s Cliché

December 9th, 2009, 1:11 p.m.

Movies are called “films” in this town and watching a film in the right setting is a sign of success for many people in “the business.” So, usually private screen rooms are mounted in homes belonging to people who can afford the luxury of a private theatre. The next logical step down from a private screening room and a step up from the Arclight is Gold Class Cinemas (www.goldclasscinemas.com) where you might be paying upwards of $30 for a flick but with more perks than frozen JR Mints and soggy popcorn.

Gonna Whip this Party into Shape

December 2nd, 2009, 10:26 a.m.

I’m really trying to rock the boat on the nightlife front for Mobile Spinach in LA. This town has something going on every night of the week and I want to share it will all the Mobile Spinach peeps out there. Recently we’ve had a good go at The Hudson (www.thehudsonla.com) with Sean Duff’s Eats & Beats gatherings. Mobile Spinach is planning on bringing a ton more Eats & Beats to as they have been wildly successful in San Francisco. Expect new DJs and new restaurants to come!

Tweak 99

November 28th, 2009, 9:29 a.m.

I’ve been waiting to hit up Tweak 99 for a long time now. Black Friday seems like it’s the day to go. Check out the website (www.tweak99.com). It’s like a compartmentalized version of the 99 cent store but with stuff that won’t disintegrate when you get them wet.

What’s Bristol Farms?

November 22nd, 2009, 2:47 p.m.

The Merchantile (www.themercantilela.com) just opened Monday on Sunset so screw Bristol Farms. This little shopping Mecca, wine bar and delectable grocer might be a tad more pricey but you can spend hours in this place, leave with a good wine buzz and infinite knowledge of all the cuisine you’d like.

Start Wine-ing

November 13th, 2009, 6:42 p.m.

It’s November and now the time to wander around house parties and private VIP rooms sipping very expensive wine and reminding people that “No, that is not lipstick on my teeth. It is a badge indicating I am have a great holiday time but will be heading to the bathroom to dispose of the red wine tooth stain.” I’ve just heard about the wine library at Terroni (http://www.terroni.ca/) Supposedly you walk through the restaurant and push on a bookcase and you are in the “Wine Library”. Shhhhhh, don’t tell nobody.

Spike Your Juice

November 9th, 2009, 7:20 p.m.

My cousin Ralph is in prison for something my parents still won’t let me in on. No matter, I don’t really remember him but I do have a few questions for him besides, “What the hell did you do?” I’ve heard of something called “Pruno”, which is fermented fruit that prisoners turn into booze and slug down for a buzz…to commit more drunken mistakes. I like the revolutionary aspect of it all. Now it’s my turn for my own Pruno. Spike Your Juice (http://www.spikeyourjuice.com/) is basically a home made Pruno kit…but with all the fixin’s and no shanks. They are based in Studio City but you can order your kit online.

Lunchfast

October 28th, 2009, 5:08 p.m.

Sunday brunch at Casa Del Mar is in full swing again and the girls and I are taking advantage of the bottomless champagne fill ups, though someone has to drive back to the west side, and the lemon ricotta pancakes. I have a feeling the those pancakes will soak up the vodka from the carousing the night before. The whole sit-down costs $29 bucks. BUT! They are totally taking a page from Mobile Spinach! If you text “Casa” to a certain number you get a secret text back, which you show to the staff to receive endless champagne…REAL ORIGNIAL GUYS!!! Don’t be jackin’ our beats!!

sorry, no deals to show here... Home
